Easily Create A Starburst Brush

For a quick tip I’m going to show you how to create a starburst brush quickly for use in all your designs. This method will let you create the starburst accurately and precisely at any size.

Step 1 – Gradient

To start, create a new document 2000 x 2000 pixels. Alt + Double Click the background layer to convert it to a normal layer. Then remove everything in the layer. Now select the gradient tool and customize it like this:

Drag the gradient from the bottom of the document to the top, don’t forget to hold shift to keep the line straight. Now go to Filter > Distort > Wave and enter these options:

Step 2 – Creating The Effect

Now, go to Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates

Now you have a starburst, time to convert it into a brush!

Select the starbust layer and CTRL + Click the image box in the layer, this selects all of the starburst. Now go to Edit > Define Brush Preset.

Click OK and you now have your custom brush. Try it out!
